A recent post at ForConstructionPros makes a good point: if you’re going to be driving a truck or vehicle that has a plow mechanism on the front end this winter, it’s especially important to take necessary safety precautions.
Follow all rules of the road. Whenever you drive, you’re supposed to follow all rules of the road, but that doesn’t always happen. If you’re regularly making phone calls, eating breakfast or checking text messages, it’s time to take a step back.
Be smart. Heed all signs, lights and traffic signals. Ice and snow add to your laundry list of distractions, so it’s best to stay focused on the task at hand: plowing.
Don’t speed. Experts recommend that you don’t go over 10MPH when plowing snow. Patches of black ice aren’t always visible and you want other vehicles to be able to pass you if necessary.
Like the story of the tortoise and the hare, “slow and steady wins the race.”
Buckle Up. If you don’t buckle up regularly, start doing so immediately. Slick, freezing conditions increase the likelihood of accidents, and seat belts save lives.

Whatever you do, stay safe and take extra steps to ensure your health and well-being.
